bkper is a startup from Brazil, created by two brothers, that helps G Suite users manage finances efficiently.

We provide a financial data aggregator, fully integrated to G Suite, that uses natural language processing and machine learning for streamlining and simplifying bookkeeping.

Challenge

We provide a financial double-entry data aggregator, that is the core for financial and accounting management of any entity. The solution alone works fine for simple cases, but it does not meet all needs for more complex scenarios. Some customers needs more integrated solutions to support the overall management. They need invoices, automated reports, custom workflows and so on. To provide all those features, we would need to create a traditional ERP solution. We do not have enough resources and we also do not believe on this approach.

We believe more in focus on solving one problem, and do it well, working together with other specialists, to provide high quality and affordable services. But, how can we provide a flexible, comprehensive and integrated solution, and still focus on our core business?

We knew that G Suite would give us the technological infrastructure and distribution channel bases to achieve our goals, but we still needed other G Suite solution providers, to take care of other areas. One of those areas is related to report automation. Here is where Ultradox comes in.

Solution

We've had requests from customers for us to provide a customizable automated report generation solution to report accounting and financial statements from their bkper data. This is a huge implementation, with a lot of detailed involved that would require a big investment of time and resources.

Templating, pdf generation, task automation and so on. We would spend weeks to months to achieve a solution that probably would not be flexible enough to meet requirements from different customers. We are not specialist on this field, so, after some research, we've found Ultradox. We used Ultradox to allow our customers to generate pdf reports from templates created with Google Docs, and, then, automate sending, storing and printing.

The integration was done using Google Apps Script. Since both, bkper and Ultradox, offers SSO to G Suite under OAuth2 protocol, and Apps Script libraries, the integration was done in matter of hours.

We just needed a couple lines of Script code to get the data coming from bkper to fill Ultradox templates. After understand how Ultradox works, we've built the other way, allowing users to record data coming from Ultradox to bkper, to automate data insertion, for example, to record Invoices generated by Ultradox.
