Trigger Ultradox from zapier

zapier is an online automation tool that connects more than 1,000 apps.

You can use zapier to trigger your Ultradox automation whenever an event in one of your favorite apps occurs - like an incoming email or a new lead from a facebook ad.

You can then pass the data from this app to your Ultradox automation to generate, print and send documents right from the cloud.

In this guide you will learn how to trigger an Ultradox automation from zapier.

Install

As the Ultradox app for zapier is still in beta stage, you will have to add the app to your zapier account manually:

Add Ultradox App

Example: Business Cards

To help you getting started, we have prepared an example that you can use to make a zap.

The example will generate a PDF document with business cards using the data from your trigger and send an email with the PDF attached to the given email address.

Copy example

Copy the example to your Google Drive and open the red file containing the automation either right from Google Drive or by clicking on Edit in the dialog that pops up after the copy is complete.

This will take you to the Ultradox automation right away.

If you have not yet authorized Ultradox to send mails on your behalf, you will get prompted to grant access.

Input Parameters

With Ultradox you can create user facing apps or automations that run in the background.

The automation starts with an Input Parameters building block (see related help for further information) to tell zapier about the data that your flow consumes.

Feel free to enter some test data into the form fields, save the form and run your flow right from the Ultradox editor to test the automation before connecting it to zapier.

The business cards with the entered test data will be sent to the entered email address shortly after the flow has run.

Make a Zap

Let's create and send business cards whenever we create a new Google contact.

Pick the Google Contacts app as trigger and select New or Updated Contact.

In the action step, select Ultradox as we want to trigger our Ultradox automation whenever a new contact is created.

Connect your Ultradox account

To connect your Ultradox account with zapier you will need your private key that you will find in the privacy dialog.

Open the privacy dialog in the Ultradox editor either from the Help - Account settings menu or by clicking on your account image in the top right corner of the Ultradox editor and clicking on Privacy.

When connecting Ultradox to zapier for the first time, you will have to create an Ultradox account in zapier.

Copy and paste the private key from the privacy dialog into the Account key field to connect zapier with your Ultradox account.

After connecting your account you will be able to pick the flow you want to trigger in the Flow dropdown.

Select the Business Cards example.

The input parameters that have been specified in the Ultradox automation will show up and you can connect the fields from the Google contact with the corresponding input parameters.

A quick test run will confirm your settings to be correct.

You can then select “Finish” to create the Zap, give it a name and have it activated.

Whenever a new contact will be created zapier will trigger the selected flow and the generated business cards will be sent to the specified email address.

Congratulations! You have learned how to trigger your Ultradox automation from zapier.

What's next?

Given the broad zapier app coverage and the advanced Ultradox document generation capabilities the possible use cases are endless.

You can for example trigger an Ultradox automation whenever you receive an email with an attachment from a certain sender. You can then pass the attachment to Ultradox so that it gets printed right from the cloud using Google Cloud Print. Pretty cool, huh?

You can also trigger a Zap from your Ultradox flow by using the Trigger Zap building block.

This can be used to send messages to Slack from Ultradox to inform you for example when a contract has been generated and is ready for signing.
